Chapter 1

The Beginning

Niell awoke from a dream he had been having for many weeks since that year began. He sprang out of bed, slamming both his hands onto the sheets under him and he placed a hand on his chest to catch his breath for that split moment. He knew that the dream wasn’t a nightmare and many times he had gotten up that exact same way. He shook his head, not wanting to think about it, and he pulled off the covers so he could open the window behind his headrest. He was a very muscular man with a strong jaw and cunning orange eyes. His hair was a messy orange that reflected his sleeping habits and he had a face that was like a convict after being out of jail.

Outside his little home was the world he had lived in all his life along with a city of no one, which he and his friends nicknamed the Lonely City. It was a bright day with very few clouds hovering above them and many kinds of birds were flying. To his left was the soft lapping sounds of the Endless Ocean, which appeared to go on for miles. He smiled a bit at that bright day until he looked at the clock on his nightstand. He noticed a thing, which was a common occurrence for him. He overslept.

He quickly got onto his feet with a hard leap onto the floorboards of his little three-room house and he ran to his dresser to get his commonly worn blue T-shirt, his blue jeans and his signature leather jacket which had both back and front pockets. He reached his hand to the top of his dresser to get his sunglasses and after he closed his hand a couple times, he realized that his sunglasses weren’t there. Startled, he dragged his hand across the top to see if maybe they had moved somewhere, but with no luck, he walked to the side to check behind the dresser. It felt ridiculous to him at first since he knew his sunglasses wouldn’t be able to fit behind something so close to the wall, but when he looked back there, he was surprised to see them wedged between the wall and the dresser.

He placed both his hands on the dresser and moved it out of the way. He heard the soft thud of his sunglasses hitting the floor and he smiled in accomplishment. He leaned forward to pick them up, but a door caught his eye in front of him, which made him look up in surprise at the sight of it. He had never even known there was another room within his little home.

The door appeared to be of some sort of old wood that he had never seen before. It was rotting and it looked to be older than Niell himself. He stared at that door for a while, pondering on why he had never noticed it before. Taking a step forward, He grabbed the cold doorknob. It squeaked as he twisted the handle and when he pushed it forward, it revealed a study full of spider webs and piles of ruined books. There was a faint blue light of a candle illuminating the room. It was moldy and it appeared to be very old, but glowed as if it were new. Beside it was a note that in old writing with the name DIZ on its cover. Niell recognized this right away as being the name of DIZ or his best friend Lia Kier’s godfather. He picked it up out of the dust and he looked it over curiously while flipping it around in his fingertips in admiration on its location. He turned it over to where faint pencil writing was written on it and he read the words, which said, “To the Third-Generation Guardians: By the time you read this, you will be old enough to finally be able to enter into the outside world if you haven’t already. I spend this last day in my study to tell you this, as I will not be coming back from this day forth. I desire you to listen carefully and remember that there will be much trial awaiting you once you leave this world and move on to rescuing the Dimensional Circle from the ones called the Elementalists. Before you do that however, you must find your comrades who carry the same gift of the Guardians as you do. They will all be within the Spirit Dimensional Layers Zero to Ten with some being more plentiful than others are. Do not fear the outside worlds. They will only harm you if you harm them.”

He held the note in his hand for only a couple seconds before gripping it harder and tensing his hand into a fist in front of him. He ran out of the room, picked up his sunglasses and he threw open the door with a leap down a couple steps that led to the grassy fields. He ran at full speed with his feet slamming down on the blades of grass, “Lia! Kaiah! Toren! Zetra! I have something important! Get over here!”

Almost immediately in a poof of smoke, a girl appeared only a few feet away from him looking distressed as she rubbed her long-pointed ear with a pained look in her eyes, “Oh Niell! You don’t need to yell!”

That girl’s name was Zetra Epherium: Kaiah’s personal advisor. She was a beautiful elven girl with blue hair going down to her waist that had sparkling textures like that of the stars. Her eyes were a mystic blue with a small squint that gave her an intimidating flare. She had blue ring tattoos that went across her the upper arm and forearm of her left arm. She had on a green half shirt that had the left sleeve missing, short shorts and pink stockings along with boots that had star shaped heels.

She shot Niell a hurt expression with her eyes narrowing down on his. Feeling a bit of embarrassment, he rubbed the back of his head with his right hand. From further off, his other friends Kaiah and Lia came running over with their feet bounding off the grass. Kaiah stopped herself on the right side of Zetra while Lia stumbled a bit and nearly fell over, “Niell! Did you hurt Zetra?”

Niell opened his mouth and drew a breath in, but Zetra was already nodding her head with a small grin appearing across her lips, “He did alright. His yelling made my ears ring. Such a pain.”

Kaiah gazed at Zetra in silence; however, after a moment, she got the gag and continued with a small smile appearing on her face. Her eyes darted at Niell with a similar squint in his direction, “aw you poor thing! You should be ashamed of yourself Niell Furyblade.”

Niell wasn’t too keen on the two. Their friendship was more of an annoyance in his mind and the things they did to get on his nerves made him look like the bad guy most of the time, “Will you two stop that!? I found a letter from DIZ!”

Kaiah, unlike Zetra, was also an elf, but not the same kind as her friendly advisor. While Zetra was a pure elf, Kaiah was a wood elf with long brown hair that reached down passed her waist and over her large breasts. She had beautiful grey eyes and long dark brown eyelashes. She wore a green and blue striped toque that she let hang down on the back, a blue hoodie, light green pants and purple sneakers which had black laces and black soles

As for Lia Kier, Lia was a lot shyer then the other two girls. She had two black teardrop shaped marks on both her cheeks which indicated her as being a daughter created by Mors Kier, or as he is also known as; Death. Her nervous black eyes were like a cold gust of wind through trees. Her deathly long black hair hung down her back and ended at her shoulder blades like dead vines from branches. She wore a regular long sleeved black shirt that had a skull on the front of it, a light grey skirt that went down to her knees and she wore light and dark grey knee socks with grey shoes to top it off.

She shuffled around a bit when she heard the name of the godfather she hadn’t seen ever since she was but a little girl. She had her eyes lowered to the ground so she didn’t have to see that everyone else had gazed in her direction. She had a tightened grip on the bottom rims of her shirt, which she held with straightened arms and risen shoulders, “Is it really from him…?”

Niell flipped the note in his hand and he twirled it over to her causing his fingers to make a quiet snap when he let it fly, “Yeah. It surprised me too. Read it for yourself.”

He flicked the note towards her, which she caught hesitantly from mid-air. She stumbled forward to catch it, which nearly made her trip in the process. She straightened it in front of her with both her hands clenched down on the sides of the note. She read it over in her head while her eyes moved carefully along each word. Halfway through, her face became dark and a look of hatred etched its way into her brow. She tore the paper in half and sent both pieces flying into the air. The soil erupted in front of her like mines had exploded beneath her and two skeletal figures came swarming out of the ground towards the torn note. They grabbed the shreds of the note with their hands clutching down on the paper; forcing them down into the dirt. She walked away without saying another to Niell and Kaiah. Niell knew of her sudden outbursts from when she was a kid so what happened wasn’t anything new in his mind, “What’s up with her?”

Kaiah merely shrugged and gazed at the holes created by the skeletons, “Daddy issues I guess…? Hey, have you seen Tora Yensig anywhere?”

They heard the ear-piercing scream of Lia Kier in the distance along with a snorting laugh from another female not to far off from them. The three looked at one another before running towards the noise to see Lia soaking wet from a bucket on top of her head. It had come from the top of a rock formation where an energetic girl with light blue hair stood with a smirk on her face.

She jumped down with a hard flip in her white and light blue shirt, her white and light blue coat, and white pants. She landed perfectly onto the ground below with enthusiasm in her fire orange eyes. She greeted Niell while flipping the long ponytail that stretched down her back saying, “Oh hey Niell. You’re up late. As usual.”

“Don’t start with me on that Tora. You know how much it irritates me,” Niell snapped with his finger pointing hard at her, “What have you been up to?”

Tora shrugged softly while she paced to her right where a wall of a ruined building still stood with withered stone, “not a whole lot. Just being me in my own little world as you liked to call it when we were kids.”

She startled him with her sassy retort, but he kept his hard composure in less then a second “Well of course I would say that about you! You always are in your own little world!”

She gave a sassy head tilt before jumping back up onto one of the ledges above them. There were three other buckets of water filled to the brim and positioned in such a way that it was as if they were waiting for their targets. Tora laughed from up above and she yelled out, “heads up ants!”

Zetra, Kaiah and Niell looked up to see those three water buckets come soaring down towards them after Toren had kicked them off. The buckets fell in a great splash of water that drenched their clothing from their shirts to their shoes. Kaiah was the first to feel the water in the bucket splash across her hair. Half a second from Niell but Zetra quickly maneuvered away causing the third bucket to hit Lia once again. She cried out in agony from the wet water of the Endless Ocean and Tora burst into a tearful laughter that caused her to fall back and kick her legs in the air frantically. She listening to their different takes on the surprise joyfully. Niell put a hand to his cheek where he felt the cold water slide down in droplets like liquid running down a glass, “Why is it that I still stand you Tora?!”

GOTEP I

Within the darkness of a dungeon-like room, Eclipse Cutt awoke after being a statue for many years within a locked away chamber known as the Awakening where people like him slept. There were other statues lining the columns of the chamber as well, which he knew would also wake up soon. He had landed on his hands and knees after the transformation and he took a moment to catch his breath after having it silenced for several years. He looked up to see the other statues and one slowly reverted into the flesh of a good friend and a Minotaur. She stayed standing while the Minotaur stumbled forward and she opened her eyes to see the dimly lit room of the place she was slumbering. Eclipse got up while brushing his clothing off from the dust and he said to the girl, “Well that was a rough landing don’t you think so Twilight Scar?”

Eclipse Cutt was a Guardian of a different kind. Even though he was of the same lineage of the Second Generation, the left side of his face was instead, like that of a robot’s endo-skeleton. Though he was in such a condition, he was a man of loyalty who respected his masters. He always believed in prophecies and rituals and as his programming went within his cyborg mind, he had no reason to question them regardless of how absurd they sounded. He had light grey hair that was shaggy and never made, his right eye was an ice-cold sky blue while the skin he did have was a pale grey. He wore a heavy light grey trench coat, which hung by his ankles and waved as if it were made of silk. On his neck, he wore a vibrant blue scarf that hung down his back and was tied so it wouldn’t fly off if there were a strong gust of wind. Underneath his jacket, he wore a blue shirt and blue jeans that were faded and ripped.

Twilight’s emotionless grey eyes turned to his direction while she stood there with a giant axe that doubled the size of her small body. Her mystic dark blue hair brushed against her cheek and hung loosely around her pointed elven ears. She peered at him for an imperfect three seconds, letting her lighter, whirlpool-like pupils dilate and give her a better look at her comrade, “perhaps…”

She pushed back the bell that was connected to the very long end of her hood causing it to chime with a transfixing light echo. She stepped off her pedestal and onto the concrete floor without any noise made. Her long black cloak moved as if the shadows were hovering around her and her short grey skirt was just the same. She looked around for a moment at all the other statues of comrades who hadn’t quite woken up yet, pacing her eyes to each of them like they were friends who she had lost long ago. She pulled back her axe to her shoulder. Her right hand had a golden glow that swirled like fog with patterns and symbols that were too old for Eclipse to read. She had her eyes down towards the ground where a book of hers had dropped from the inside of her cloak. She lowered herself to pick it up, allowing her right hand to slide down the hilt of the axe while keeping it up like its hilt connected into the stone. She grabbed the red covered book gently across the spine. Her fingers were pressed down as if it were a fragile ornament that could be broken if it were held too hard.

The Minotaur beside her had its glowing red eyes down on her as if making sure she was okay while grabbing the book. Its brown main and lighter brown fur flowed with the soft winds that came through the cracks in the walls. Its giant rings that were around the tops of his arms glimmered with the torches that lit up across the columns they had slumbered giving him a vibrant glow. It wore a leather loincloth that stretched all the way around his waist and had an emblem attached to it as well. The symbol appeared to be a golden Ankh Charm, though the top part ended at two points and had a purple middle where the circle would have been. Surrounding it was a red border that also had a steel border surrounded it.

Twilight opened the book which flapped about till she reached the right page She had her attention at a place in the center of the books pages and her fast reading was indicated by how her eyes moved across each line three seconds at a time, “It is nearly time Minato; my brother… Are you also ready cyborg?”

Eclipse always shuddered when he saw Twilight’s Minotaur Minato stare at him with his glaring red-ringed eyes. It made him a bit uneasy to look at that behemoth of a beast who Twilight called a friend. She and the Minotaur were so close in fact that she even gave him a replica of her axe that she kept safe in a realm known as the Twilight Realm. A realm only she and Minato could go in.

Their other friends Dawn Guarder, Midnight Tear and Nightfall Kali weren’t awake, so Eclipse decided to go and lean on the column beside Twilights to keep himself occupied while he waited for further instructions from his masters. He always found her clothing choices peculiar whenever he looked at her, though he knew that her family line came from a place that wore that style of clothing. He tried to think of some kind of conversation starter, putting a thumb on his chin while his eye rose up to the ceiling, “So… how was your slumber Twilight?”

Though she didn’t address him specifically, she eyeballed him and held her book closer in front of her face like she was trying to avoid any kind of eye-contact, “Tiring…”

Her eyes allured back to the page she was on like a magnet. Beside her, Minato stared off at the far wall with his axe gripped tightly in his hand. He was like a bodyguard to Twilight or at least that’s what Eclipse thought whenever he saw him. He could see how Twilight wasn’t going to continue any sort of conversation with her face stuffed in her book. Without another option of what to do to pass the time, he decided to go to Minato and ask him a question, “So… anything interesting happen while you slept Minato…?”

Minato merely estimated him and snorted before looking back at the column on the other end of the room. Eclipse gave up with a sigh and he walked away towards the column in which he had slept in. He sat down on its pedestal and he closed his eyes hoping to get a few more hours of sleep before he continued got the call to do whatever he had to do after waking up.
